Opposition’s Orbán to lecture in Frankfurt on Hungarian economy

Main opposition Fidesz party leader Viktor Orban will leave for Frankfurt on Wednesday to give a talk on Hungary’s economic situation, challenges and options for renewal, Peter Szijjarto, head of Orban’s office, said in a statement on Tuesday.

Orban is scheduled to meet members of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), he said.

Last Saturday Orban met senior American and European business leaders and politicians at an investors’ dinner in Klosters, Switzerland, and briefed them about Hungary’s economic situation and the challenges it faces.

Will he cover the logic as to why its better to reward those with less education (e.g. bus drivers who might have completed secondary school – costing BKV perhaps 331K per month) compared to those that educate our citizens (ie. high-school teachers who cost the state 230K and have to complete 7+ years more education). If so, I’d love to hear how we all benefit.

  2. Iskola says:

@Rolrox. I understand the position as far as low pay is concerned especially for teachers.
Education is just one more area that needs immediate attention. Starting with a rise in pay for poorly paid teachers.

WTF does Orban have to talk about with VDMA = Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau ?

These guys build machines and whole plants for Audi and so on, what does Orban know that they don’t ?

  4. MFID says:

@ Wolfi. I think there might be a misunderstanding somewhere along the line.
I think Orbi is going to inform VDMA about the
critical economic mess we are now in and can they offer any help re: building new manufacturing plants and/or similar.
I’ve had a few drinks so I’m not quite sure what I’ve said. But, on the whole, I think he is seeking new investment. Can’t imagine what he would be “lecturing” about?
Does he speak German and/or English?
He forgets most of what he says just like me.
But I’m not the next PM of this country.
    Bottoms up!

I got curious, so here it is:

“I asked German investors to be patient and remain confident in Hungary, don’t leave the country,” Orban said after meeting board members of German machinery and construction industry alliance VDMA.

The Fidesz party is widely tipped to win the upcoming general election on April 11.

Hungary should be regarded as a serious destination when considering investment plans in the central and Eastern European region, Orban said.

“The era of uncertain and hectic government decisions is over, investors will see that Hungary’s business and social sentiment is changing sooner than anyone would have expected,” Orban said.
