Hungary business confidence indexes rise, says research institute

Confidence at Hungary's biggest hundred companies rose slightly in January, while the outlook of managers of small- and medium-sized enterprises also improved, think-tank Ecostat told MTI on Wednesday.

The TOP-100 index rose 3 percentage points to 71.8 percent in January from 68.6 percent in December, said Ecostat

The SME index rose 7 percentage points to 67.8 percent after falling in December.

The research institute predicts economic stagnation this year.

The output of the production and service sectors will hardly change from a low base, with a slight recovery expected only towards the end of the year when Hungary's key trade partners will be experiencing sustained economic growth, Ecostat said.
