Orbán offers funding to energy-saving households

If Fidesz forms Hungary’s next government, it will set up a “green bank” to finance the rehabilitation of pre-fab housing estates and improvements in the homes to facilitate more economical heating, Viktor Orban, head of the main opposition party, said on HirTV on Monday.

Orban said his party had a detailed programme, and added that the scheme would not require any contributions from the families.

It is still an open question, however, if the “green bank” will be set up as an independent institution or as a special component of the Hungarian Development Bank, Orban said.
