Hungary’s Zsolnay porcelain factory recorded net sales revenue of HUF 840m (EUR 3.09m) in 2009, down from HUF 1.057bn in 2008, with operating losses of HUF 135m compared to operating profit of HUF 84m in 2008, the business daily Napi Gazdasag reported.
The company’s owner, the city council of Pecs, told the paper that the sale of a 49pc share packet is still on the agenda because the company needs fresh capital. A new tender for the packet is expected to be invited, possibly as soon as the first half of this year. Econews reported earlier that a previous tender was declared unsuccessful in July 2009.
