Dutch-owned investor to build Ft 7 billion hotel in SW Hungary

Dutch-owned Hungarian company Grontmij Canor plans to build a HUF 7bn, four-star hotel in Siklos (SW Hungary), regional daily Uj Dunantuli Naplo reported on Tuesday.

Grontmij Canor has bought a plot for the hotel for HUF 120m from the local council. It plans to open a 200-room hotel and a shopping centre on the site by the end of 2011. Later, it will build apartment buildings there, too.

The company is applying for European Union support for the project, because the hotel is heated with geothermal and solar energy.

Grontmij Canor designed and built Budapest’s Aquaworld as well as several residential parks, hypermarkets and production plants in Hungary.
