Police uncover massive invoice forgery operation in S Hungary

Police in Pecs, south Hungary, have uncovered a massive operation to produce fake invoices worth around 1 billion forints (EUR 3.7m).

The accused has been placed in pretrial detention by the Pecs Municipal Court, a spokesman for the local authority told MTI on Wednesday.

Local excise police seized stamps, equipment and other paraphernalia from a garage.

Further investigations uncovered fictive transactions on behalf of almost 100 companies over the past three years. The heads of these firms used this method to reduce their tax payments.
