Hungary’s gross wages unchanged year-on-year in December, up 0.5% in 2009

Gross wages in Hungary were unchanged in the twelve months to December 2009. Gross wages rose 0.5pc in 2009, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.

Business sector gross wages rose 1.4pc in the twelve months to December and rose 4.3pc on average from 2008 to 2009.

In the public sector gross wages dropped 2.4pc yr/yr in December and fell 7.9pc in 2009. The fall in the public sector reflected to a large part changes in the payment of annual bonuses.

Net wages rose 2.5pc in twelve months in December and were up 1.7pc last year.

Real wages fell 3.1pc yr/yr in December and fell 2.4pc in 2009, calculating with a December CPI of 5.6pc and annual average inflation of 4.3pc in 2009.
