Motorists saved billions on compulsory insurance in 2009

One out of four, or nearly one million, motorists changed compulsory vehicle insurance polices last year, the insurers association Mabisz revealed yesterday.

Around 500,000 customers cancelled and then renewed their contracts to benefit from lower rates.

Of the 1.5 million who signed new contracts 40% did so online. Online insurance broker biztosito.hu forecasts that motorists saved Ft 13,000-17,000 on average by renewing or changing their policies, which could reduce insurers’ revenues by Ft 25 billion to near Ft 100 billion.
