Spa towns most popular tourism destinations in Hungary after Budapest

The spa towns of Heviz and Hajduszoboszlo were the most popular destinations for tourists in Hungary after Budapest last year, state tourism agency Magyar Turizmus told MTI on Friday, citing data from the Central Statistics Office (KSH).

In fourth place was Siofok, on the shores of Lake Balaton, followed by Buk, another spa town near the border with Austria.

Budapest and Heviz were also the most popular destinations for foreign visitors to Hungary in 2009. Foreign tourists spent 4.7m guest nights in Budapest and 589,000 in Heviz.
