TV2 hit with stiff fine for show with celebrity criminals

Hungarian commercial television channel TV2 has been fined Ft 35 million for broadcasting a program featuring several well-known celebrities with criminal convictions, writes origo.hu.

The five episodes of celebrity dinner show “Hal a tortán” spotlighted stars who had served jail terms for various crimes.

Media regulator ORTT explained its decision by saying that the program had a negative effect on the moral development of youngsters. The channel says it will seek to have the judgment overturned in court.

    don’t know about the kids, i know it turned my stomach to think these jerks get tv time :(

    judgment should be doubled not overturned as the station obviously doesn’t get the point even now.

    I don’t understand the fuss. They did their
    porridge, they are now free men/women, so why
    shouldn’t they have a fair right to be on tv like
    anyone else?
