KPMG study finds Hungarian firms lagging in transparency

Hungarian companies have not become more transparent over the past one and a half years, new research by KPMG reveals.

According to vg.hu, which summarized the findings, last year only one-third of Hungary’s 100 most significant companies offered annual reports or other information beyond financial performance.

The companies which most actively offered additional information were financial firms and public utilities.

The research concluded that companies usually offer such information mainly for brand-building and ethical reasons.

The number of such reports remain below the international average of between 40% and 45%, though Hungarian companies do well compared to other countries in the region.
