Budapest’s District XVII (Rákosmente) is building a new town center from Ft 1.5 billion (over €5.6 million), origo.hu writes, based on an MTI report.
A new main square will be built in place of the old bus station with greenery, multi-function buildings and fountains. The building of the mayor’s office will be accessible for the disabled, and the garden of the Fuchs Castle will be turned into a community square with a restaurant and offices. On Szent Kereszt tér, a park will be established in front of the church.
Levente Riz, the mayor of the district, announced that the local government had won a Ft 963 million EU subsidy and will cover the rest of the costs from own funds. Construction will start in March and be completed in October.
