Work starts on Ft Ft 3.6 billion spa development in SE Hungary

The cornerstone of a HUF 3.6bn spa development in Mako (SE Hungary) was laid on Friday.

European Union funding is covering more than HUF 1.5bn of the cost of the project. The rest is being financed with a municipal bond issue.

The development is expected to be inaugurated in August 2011.

More than 300,000 visitors came to the spa in Mako last year. About 80pc of visitors were from neighbouring countries.
