Főtáv director arrested over embezzlement charges

Lajos Kovács, the director-general of Budapest heating company Főtáv Zrt., was arrested by police last week on suspicion of misappropriating funds, hirszerzo.hu reports. Kovács is currently being held under preliminary detention.

A private individual filed a complaint with police regarding irregularities with the construction of an apartment complex on Csepel Island in southern Budapest, after which police launched an investigation. Police moved in on Kovács after speaking with Zoltán Gy., the contractor in charge of the development, who is also suspected of embezzling funds alongside Kovács.
