Former MNV CEO, sales chief arrested

Police detained Miklós Tátrai, former head of the state asset manager MNV, and former sales manager Zsolt Császy on suspicion of wrongdoing related to the Sukoró casino project.

Tuesday’s arrest came after detectives searched the homes of both men, and impounded documents and computers.

Tátrai is suspected of misuse of funds and other crimes in connection with the Sukoró casino project.

Both suspects filed complaints against the detention and house searches. Tátrai made a statement, while Császy maintained his right to remain silent. Both denied committing any crimes.

Prosecutors say state properties provided for the project were undervalued by Ft 734.4 million, while land received in exchange from the investors was overvalued by Ft 593.5 million.
