Saigo Port wins contract to build logistics base at Debrecen airport

Saigo Port Kft, a member of the Xanga Investment and Development Group (XID), has won a contract in an open tender to build a cargo and logistics base at the international airport of Debrecen (E Hungary), with phase one of the development expected to cost HUF 2.5bn, the business daily Napi Gazdasag reported.

Plans for the storage and logistics development were presented jointly by Saigo Port’s managing director and one of the investor partners, Peter Heim, CEO of economic-research institute Szazadveg Gazdasagkutato. Saigo Port is leasing a 50,000sqm area for the development, which will be linked to an adjoining 62,500sqm area.

The XID group is expected to continue the 20-hectare expansion of the Hatar Road industrial park in Debrecen, the area of which is to increase to 80 hectares as a result of the development. The group will also operate the industrial park, where the number of employees is expected to double to almost 7,000.
