About one-eighth of Hungarian employers plan layoffs in Q4 2010

Slightly more than one out of eight Hungarian employers plans to cut staff in the last quarter of 2010, according to a survey by global staffing-company Manpower. The ratio of those planning new hires was similar and both ratios rose from Q3.

While 13pc of the 750 employers surveyed by Manpower said they would reduce staff in Q4, an equal 13pc said they would hire new employees during the period, Manpower Magyarorszag chief Judit Kiss said.

The share of respondents planning staff reductions in Q3 was 4pc and the ratio of those planning new hires was 7pc. The respective ratios were 14pc and 10pc in Q4 2009.

More than 70pc of employers said they would neither hire nor lay off employees in the final three months of the year, Ms Kiss added.
