The Y-shaped tunnel underpass on central Budapest’s Ferenciek tere will be closed to car traffic and turned into a shopping center, ingatlanmagazin.com reports. The government of District V has announced that the winner of a public procurement tender for reconstructing Ferenciek tere, Március 15. tér and their environs is the Főmterv-Kima-Közlekedés-Város-Teampannon consortium.
The tasks were given and include the elimination of pedestrian underpasses on Váci utca and Veres Pálné utca, allowing pedestrians to use the Ferenciek tere underpass, creating a community venue at Kossuth Lajos utca 3 and moving the bus lane to the middle between Erzsébet Bridge and Astoria.
