Budapest hotel market among region’s weakest, new data show

Budapest hotels trailed their European peers both in terms of occupancy rate, room prices and revenue per available room (REVPAR) in January-September this year, according to a comparative survey of 41 European cities released by the Association of Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants.

The survey was based on data compiled by STR Global and the Central Statistics Office.

Hungary ranked fourth out of five CE European countries on an aggregate scale.

Budapest hotels ranked 22nd in terms of occupancy, 39th in terms net room prices and 39th in terms of REVPAR.

Revenue from holiday vouchers fell on a national level almost a quarter to HUF 30 billion in the first 9 months.
