Sinking EU still pouring money into Hungarian waterparks


As the eurozone and the EU as a whole continue to face existential economic threats, the flow of uniós pénz continues apace in the far corners of Hungary, with the announcement that EU funds would be poured into an expansion of a spa complex down in Gyula.

The aim/hope of the HUF 2 billion (roughly EUR 6 million) in spiffing up is that it will help raise visitor numbers at the Gyulai Várfürdő by 25%, or, one assumes, at least keep the three “lucky” winners of the construction tender liquid for a while longer. []
