The shutdown of Hungarian national carrier Malev on Friday was managed well and problems were kept to a minimum, state secretary for infrastructure Pal Volner said in an interview with commercial television station ATV on Monday.
Mr Volner said there was no problem handling the backup of passengers in Budapest created after Malev grounded its flights. He added that assistance was also available for ticket holder abroad, with consulates even offering to help.
He said problems were minimised compared to other airlines that had gone recently gone bankrupt, such as Spanair.
Mr Volner said Malev staff would receive their January pay, adding that the airline had not paid almost USD 400,000 it owed at the airport in Tel Aviv to ensure its employees received their paychecks.
