American hotel chain Starwood and Hungary’s KESZ Holding on Wednesday topped out a HUF 2.5bn four-star hotel in Kecskemet (C Hungary) that was once an office building.
The hotel – with 129 rooms and seven suites, and a conference centre with capacity for 480 – will be operated by Interstate Hotels and Resorts, a unit of Starwood. It will be completed in 2013.
KESZ Hotel and Conference Management won a HUF 450m European Union grant for the hotel conversion and a HUF 273m grant for the construction of a conference centre.
German carmaker Daimler recently started production at a big compact car plant in Kecskemet.
