Gov’t to ease wage burden on businesses for new hires of young people

Employers that hire college or university graduates aged 25 or less will be exempt from paying social contributions on their salaries for two years, under a new Economy Ministry proposal, state secretary Sándor Czomba announced yesterday.

On another issue, he said funding of the government’s wage compensation scheme in the public and private sectors will be cut back and the number of those eligible will be reduced. Czomba emphasised that the programme will not be abandoned.

The ministry is looking at ways to link wage compensation with the job protection plan, in order to reduce bureaucracy.

Czomba affirmed that the job protection plan targets one million employees, by either creating or safeguarding jobs.

Talks on the minimum wage will commence with employees and unions from the middle of October, Czomba said.

And just who will pay the contributions? How much will this concession cost etc. More piecemeal policy made up on the fly. Lovely to see how the one million jobs promise is now being nuanced into protection rather than creation. Tell the folks at Dunaferr that Viktor will either protect their jobs or make new ones for them.
