Registered job-seekers in Hungary numbered 527,000 in August, down 0.1pc in a month and down 4pc from a year earlier, fresh data published by the National Employment Office (NMH) show.
There were 28,300 new vacancies posted at employment offices in August, down 9,700 from a month earlier and down 15,000 from August 2011. The total number of vacancies was 63,300 and 35,000 vacancies remained unfilled on August 20.
More than 60pc of the vacancies were subsidised by the state in some form, the bulk of them jobs under public work programmes.
