Tax authority uncovers tax evasions worth HUF 80 billion in January-September

The Criminal Affairs Department of Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) uncovered tax evasion in excess of HUF 80bn in the first eight and a half months of 2012, NAV Vice President for Criminal Affairs Laszlo Sors announced on Thursday.

HUF 3.5bn of the tax evasion took place in Hungary’s meat sector. Mr Sors said that the NAV Criminal Affairs Department had initiated 6,000 criminal procedures in this sector.
