Drug maker Egis opens HUF 7 billion R&D center

Hungarian drugmaker Egis, majority-owned by France’s Servier, on Tuesday inaugurated a HUF 7bn research and development investment at its base in Budapest.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban inaugurated the drug technology development and experimentation plant and the analytical development laboratory.

Egis was awarded a HUF 226m government grant for the HUF 3.7bn drug technology development and experimentation plant and a HUF 97m grant from the European Regional Development Fund for the HUF 3.3bn analytical development laboratory.

The investments will create more than 50 jobs.
